Perfect Lady, oil on canvas
Today my heart goes out to all those unlucky pups and peeps who will have a Pandemic Birthday this year. With a Pandemic Birthday, there are no surprise parties, no regular parties, no cake at the office nor nice dinner at a fancy restaurant with close friends. By the time all of this is over, if you say, “Hey, it was my birthday six weeks ago!”, everyone will think you are lame.
If you know someone having a birthday during confinement, consider celebrating their special day by having a pet portrait made for them! Portraits can be done in a variety of mediums (even crayon, if you want) to fit a variety of budgets.
You can contact me here or through my website L Bowman Studios. Help keep the economy moving and small business alive!
(And Toby full of biscuits. He insists that is a very important point.)

Prefer binge gift shopping? Then order a bunch of copies of Dream Our World! Bored friends and family will be grateful for the fun diversion where they can visit the only museum in the world still open.
At the Museum of the Imagination, Bitey and Toby view the world of art from a canine perspective all while enjoying a day of unsupervised fun.
Dream Our World is available from Amazon.
HUGSSSSSSSSS IT CAN HOWEVER BE YOUR SPECIAL DAY… ANYDAY !!! SO TAKE YOUR PIC K!!!
People aren’t as willing to give out presents if it isn’t a particular day, though. : – (
MAKE UP A NAME.. FOR THE DAY SUCH AS “THIS IS MY DELAYED BIRTHDAY” !!!
I like it! Starting in May, I think we should start celebrating delayed birthdays like crazy. : – D
When teaching, I always celebrated the kids who had summer birthdays. I did that in the first week of school, (made a big deal of it) as they had their birthdays during non-school days. They were always surprised and happy to celebrate again in school. 🙂
Beautiful idea! The pet portraits! Your artwork is amazing!
A few years ago, my youngest adult kiddo had one done by a friend for me, of my Cooper. I treasure it. 🙂
Toby IS right about the belly full of biscuits! 😀 😛 Then a nap, of course.
(((HUGS))) and ❤ 🙂
What a great idea for your students! You are so thoughtful. (My birthday falls during the school year. I always thought not having to go to school on your birthday was the best gift you could get.)
You can never have enough portraits of your puppy. Or naps! – Toby
My birthday fell during the first week of school or sometimes was THE first day back to school. 😮 I had a few teachers who failed to mention it and then a few days or weeks later they’d go…’Oh, no, it was Carolyn’s birthday and
with all of the back to school stuff I missed it!” Ha!
So when I taught I honored each kid’s birthday with a card and small gift and the class would sing to them. 🙂
I gotta say…Perfect Lady looks like a really judgmental dog. I think I saw her eyeing my cart at Costco today. Does Sir Toby have an official portrait? Pics or didn’t happen.
Were you panic shopping, Max? Was that the real reason she was eyeing your cart?
I’ve done some Toby sketches, but not an official portrait. I was thinking of painting his fur green and calling it Pop Art.
Nooooo! Toby deserves a portrait that will bring out his dignity and his nobility. If you Warhol-up Toby’s portrait we will never forgive you. Nay, the world will never forgive you!
I was thinking of painting Toby green ala Cristo. (Will the world forgive me for Geordie’s portrait in Dream Our World?)
a la Crisco? Like fat in the can?
Ha ha! Mommy is Crisco (aka “fat in the can”). – Toby
Join us in the garage, Toby. Plenty of room here.
I’ll be on the next flight out. – Toby
My girl is famous!!
Like there was ever any doubt!
