Recently the question was asked if we’ve ever had an encounter with a bug. Well, here is mine:
I am aesthetically challenged under the best of circumstances, so the bee who stung my eye did not do me any favors. (This has happened to me twice, but I guess I only took a picture of one.)

(((HUGS)))
PS…one of my friends left a comment to you and me in the comment section of my bug blog on how to insert photos into comments. I hope to try to figure out if I can follow his instructions. 🙂
I’ll have to try that next time!
To bee or not to bee. I say “Don’t .” I’ll keep an eye out for you.
Groan!!
Mommah says we can’t be out in the front yard, where it’s much cooler, because there are these ground hornet things that I like to chase and bite at and she says if one gets me it will be very bad. So I guess I won’t bite them cuz your eye looks very sore and I feel very bad.
Love, Maverick
Yikes! Ground bees are miserable. We had some problems with them a few years ago and invested much spray to convince them to relocate. If this works, here is Geordie’s story about the bees: https://theadventuresofbiteydog.com/2018/07/17/bitey-and-the-bee-stings/ Stay away from the front yard and all of those helpful-but-dangerous flying friends!
Actually, these seem to be pretty harmless as long as you ignore them – they’re known as the gentle giants of the bee world. But Maverick wants to bite them so they would most likely bite back! Bear puts stuff in the holes at night if they get too rowdy but normally we tend to ignore them
Wow, the ground bees we had were yellow jackets, and they were pretty cranky. (They went after my mom too.) I’m glad your bees are easy going. All your flowers should be nicely pollinated! 🌸 🌺 🌹
Bear says they kill the cicadas – and those things are just nasty – and they also eat spiders, so I can live with them. But I’m not really fond of them because they’re so big! Yellow jackets are nasty -we had some in a bush that Bear was cutting down and he got stung badly.
Oh my gosh. That looks terribly hurtful.
Thankfully it was more itchy than painful. Of course, if it had happened this summer, I would go bonkers from not being able to touch my face!
Can an encounter be positive? Bugs overall are beneficial. Might as well look on the bright side of life …. (cue Monty Python song). I did have Lyme Disease in my mid-30s, now 16 years ago. Nipped it in the bud though and was right as rain in three weeks. I suppose that’s not-so-good, but at least it wasn’t Malaria. (Isn’t that Trump’s wife’s name?) I just made myself chuckle…. 😂
Idea for your eye: next time throw on some Jackie O. sunglasses and then you’ll be stylin’ 😎
Ba-da-bump! I’ll see myself out…..
I like the Ba-da-bump! Wow, Lymes is serious. Glad you recovered!
