On Tuesday I decided to trade Toby in on a skinny puppy with short fur and big eyes. Not a bad bargain.
When we got to the groomer’s, Toby figured that if he never got out of the car he wouldn’t have to get a bath. He firmly planted himself on the seat and refused to budge while I tried to tempt him with beef cubes and sweet words. The whole time I was struggling, the lady in the car beside us was laughing and laughing. She said she used to have a Cairn terrier, and he was equally stubborn. She asked if she could take a picture of Toby to send to her daughter as their pup had died several years ago and was still deeply missed by the family.
We talked for a few more minutes, and she mentioned that her Cairn’s dad was named “Robbie” and was from a town not far away. I was stunned for a moment. I asked, “Did you adopt your pup around 2006?” She said that sounded about right. Robbie was my dog’s dad too! It turned out that her dog any my Geordie were littermates!

Happy memories of brother biting.
One day the two brothers showed up at the vet’s office for checkups at the same time. These photos are of them doing their Smothers Brothers “Mom Always Liked You Best” routine. (The one doing the biting was, of course, my boy.)

Wait, you mean Geordie and his littermate actually went to the same vet , and met there once on the same day??! That’s amazing! Did you take the photos, or the other mommy?
Yes, they really showed up for appointments at the same time! The photos came from Geordie’s side of the family.
That’s just amazing. Did she remember the earlier meeting?
Yes! It was funny how much that day stood out to both of us. 😀
Toby looks a little embarrassed, BTW. 😂
He probably is. I have to sedate him for his appointments, and they leave him feeling out of sorts for a day or two. He had just had two Toby tantrums, and he probably wasn’t feeling too good about himself.
Little dickens!
AW! What a sweet wonderful story about Geordie and his littermate!! ❤️❤️ Thank you for sharing that with us! 🙂
Love Toby’s before and after photos! Cooper finally had a groomer appointment last week and we took similar photos! 🙂 He always looks like a new man after he gets his Spa Day! 😉
He says, “Getting massages, getting your nails done and your hair did, and sunning by the pool is rrruff work!” 😉 HA! 😀
(((HUGS))) ❤️❤️
PS…Coop adopted me when he was almost 6 weeks old. A few times over the next few months we took him by to see his Mom. (He was the runt of her litter of 6 pups.) She would lay down with one paw tucked under her and little Coop would lay down right next to her and tuck one of his paws under him. 🙂 The senior adult lady who was Coop’s mom’s human loved seeing them together. 🙂
Oh my gosh, that image of Cooper and his mom is too sweet!! Do you have any pictures of them doing that? We would love to see. ❤️💕💝
Does Cooper fight going to the groomer? I wonder why some pups do when they obviously feel so much better afterwards. 🤷♀️
That was 13 years ago or so. ? We didn’t even think about snapping a photo. I didn’t even have a cell phone then that had a camera.
He doesn’t seem to mind the groomer. He’s pretty laid back about all things. Plus the ladies at the groomer, and the ones at the vet office, are all so good to him. I know he likes the attention. 🙂
PS…I think Toby is the smart one…I don’t like going to get my hair cut OR to the doc/dentist offices.
So your hair is really long like Rapunzel? 🤔
HA! 😉 😀 Most of the time, it’s longish. But I just recently got it cut short. 🙂
At least you won’t have to go back to the human groomer for a good while!
What are the odds on that! Can’t even imagine trying to take any of the thugs to be groome, luckily only one of them is hairy.
You were smart to adopt short-furred family!
You think we had any choice in the matter….
😆
First time that I saw Bitey Dog Geordie living up to his nickname. Don’t worry, Toby, mostly bald is beautiful. Trust me on that one.
Geordie usually behaved sweetly for cameras. That’s part of why I decided to drawmy little monster – so that I could capture more of his true nature.
That is a great story. I is a small world filled with tiny dogs.
I wish for more stories like these. They are filled with such happy connections. 😊

We’ll see!
When Max was young, we used to go to the local dog park every day. One day, he and another Golden ran from opposite sides of the field to each other – it was like the old Clairol commercials. I asked the other dog’s mom the usual questions – and damn, if it didn’t turn out THEY were litter mates. Somewhere I have pictures of Max, Skipper and another one of their brothers at the dog park, it was so neat to see that they remembered each other.
What a wonderful memory! I would love to see the picture if you come across it. Was it easy to tell the pups apart once they got together?
It was! I’m in NY but I’ll look for the pictures when I get home
I hope you are all doing well.
You and Toby are in my thoughts, with love!
Sending (((HUGS))) to you both! ❤️❤️
Thank you so much! I’ve been missing everyone (and posting my goofy thoughts online), but I got a commission and won’t allow myself to do anything fun until I get it finished.
I hope you all are having a happy summer!
