Unexpected joy.
I heard some hosts on TV discussing unexpected good things that have happened to them from the shelter in place order. One man used his exercise cycle more and lost several pounds. Another host was learning to cook since she couldn’t go out to eat. Several people said their pets were thrilled to have their parents home all the time.
In this neighborhood, people have cabin fever, so they are walking their dogs several times a day. Humans catch up on news shouted across the street while pups exchange their own news on every blade of grass.
What is an unexpected joy in your life thanks to this viral adventure?
I like to spend my shelter-in-place time vigorously napping.

Speaking of adventures, Bitey and Toby can help to take our mind off of being at home with their latest book Dream Our World. All the real museums are closed, but you can still come to The Museum of the Imagination and view the world of art through the eyes of my pups. Each page has layers of fun to it from the artwork itself to the pups’ reactions as well as the unique names given to each piece.
Toby says: I highly recommend this work. The characters are so compelling.
Dream Our World would make a great introduction to art for the little ones in your life.
Dream Our World is available from Amazon but not from any museums ’cause – you know – they’re all closed.
I’m actually getting my weeding and filing done. It feels so good to see the desktop and the flowers, instead of the weeds. Maybe not good enough to continue, but for now, I’ll take it.
I can’t wait to get out to the garden. It is too rainy right now, but I have my seeds ready. I need to do more sheredding before I will be able to see my desktop. You are way ahead of me!
Used to be I spent at least 90 minutes at the gym 4 days a week. I’ve slept in every morning since the orders came to self-isolate. Sure I’m getting fat and lazy but you wanted good news, right?
PS: Toby…you…you are a :shudder: cage dog? Say it ain’t so, Toby. Run free, my friend and express your wolf DNA.
My door is always open, so I tell myself that is really my “room”, not a cage. (Anymore, I spend most of my time in Mom’s room where I like to shut the door on her.)
Tell Daddy it might be time to consider a Peloton!
Peloton…that’s a brand of dark beer, right?
Yes! You can get Peloton or Peloton Lite.
I’ve lost 6 lbs but mostly because of the bronchitis, nothing else. I can’t say much positive we’re missing our walks and our routine is screwed because of my husband being home. I have more work to do because of taking class online. So yeah, happy for people who are getting some benefit from this – me, going stir crazy and want my life back
The positive is that you will look really great when swim suit season comes? ( I dunno. I was trying to find something.)
I hope that you are feeling stronger and can get back to normal quickly!
Well, there’s that! I gained 10 lbs when we got Maverick – I’m a big walker and he was not doing 6 miles a day, still isn’t – and I couldn’t leave him home while I did my miles. So this has taken care of some of that
Am I the only one who hears Chaka Khan’s song upon reading the title of this post? Btw, looked her up on wiki and yesterday (3/23) was her 67th birthday.
I’ll have to get back to you on an unexpected joy in my life that is a direct result of this pandemic. It’s been a brutal 6 months since October and I was so looking forward to spring to be able to breathe, to level out the stress, and now with this happening that’s not possible. Not for at least 1.5 years is the academic and medical prediction. Hint: if the political arm of the government engine gives the “all-clear” don’t believe it.
What a coincidence about Chaka Khan! Happy birthday to her.
Oh dear, I am sorry you having such difficulties. I hope that something nice (not necessarily pandemic-related) happens for you soon.
We are taking walks with Coop, and he seems to be enjoy having “the pack” at home all day every day.
We are doing work, chores, catching up on reading, chatting with neighbors from across the way. Using Skype, texting, and phoning to keep in touch with family and friends. Cooking some fun new recipes. Doing some Spring cleaning. Etc.
But the past week seems like it was a month long. 😮
HUGS!!! and ❤ and PATS and RUBS!!! 🙂
I agree! This week was really a week in Dog Time. I found the period between Thanksgiving and New Year frustrating because there were so few work days. I had hoped that by Spring things would be better. Not!
It sounds like Cooper is in heaven having family all around. Give him some hugs from us!
Best thing for me is not having to cook! We’re being encouraged to support our local restaurants who are still doing take-out and delivery, and my hubby is all into that. Works for me!
Around here, the restaurants are offering really great deals on their take out meals. I hope it helps to keep a lot of people at work!
Win/win! And add a nice tip if you can!
