Woo hoo! The garden has finally started producing something other than weeds! I had to fight Toby for this cucumber, but eventually I won. (I cheated. I threatened to hide Blue Puppy if he didn’t give it up.)
Between my injured knee and all the rain we’ve had, I found it difficult to keep up with the weeds. Over the weekend, we had two dry days, and I was able to clear out most of what shouldn’t be there. It was good timing because I found some small zucchini and a couple of cukes which will need close supervision. Had I waited a few days, I may have ended up with baseball bats instead of veggies.
Toby turned out to be really helpful in the garden. His favorite food is grass, and he went first for the stuff that had gone to seed. Had I realized, I would have sent him out there to take care of things and saved myself the sunburn.
So, I did good?

The lunch bag is nice. Does Toby get royalties?
In addition for posing for the lunch bag, Geordie also modeled for a costume I made for a Hollywood movie. All he got was biscuits, though. Like Taylor Swift, he thought he was making a good deal at the time.
Did you see the movie?
No. They were supposed to send me a copy but never did. It never made it to theaters or TV in this country that I know of.
It might be on IMDB although that isn’t the most user-friendly site.
The dreaded oversized zucchini. I remember them well. Especially the ones snuck onto our porch by “helpful” neighbors.
Ha ha ha ha! Around here, you have to watch out for bags of tomatoes showing up on your doorstep.
That would be ok since there is also an excess of basil available since there are so many Italians here.
Our garden has started to produce but Max couldn’t care less.
Max isn’t a veggie dog? Toby attacks my garden basket and steals food from me. Which garden delights is he ignoring this year?
We do Asian veggies because that’s what the Alpha Japanese Female wants and I’m a coward. Also tomatoes, peppers, and cucumbers. Max will eat small carrot slices and peas and the occasional frozen green bean.
Do you grow bai cai? I never thought to try that at home.
In Japanese that’s hakusai (napa cabbage) but we don’t grow that…way too hard to grow without the bugs gobbling it.
