It wasn’t me. The pumpkin tooted.
Totally unrelated to Toby’s tooting, I recently saw an ad for Windows 11 and thought I would read a little about it. Turns out that “older computers might not be compatible with the upgrade”. Oops, I guess you’ll just have to get a new computer. Hmmm, what genius came up with this idea? Electronics are about as rare as unicorns these days. Will new computers just float across the Pacific and land in our stores? With the cost of food and fuel skyrocketing, who has hundreds or thousands to shell out for a new computer?
In my neighborhood, you can’t find canned pumpkin. The only vegetable in the store freezers is broccoli. A neighbor is trying to get his lawn mower fixed, but he can’t due to a parts shortage. The last thing Americans need is to worry about a new computer. I’m more concerned about food…and toothpaste. (And kibble! – Toby)

FRET NOT LADY RE COMPUTER. MOST ALSO WOT BE ABLE TO AFFORD A NEW ONE. THE PRESENT ONES WILL HAVE TO WORK STILL !
WISH YOU WOULD JUST PACK TOBY INTO THE CAR AND TAKE A LONG DRIVE HERE. WE HAVE ROOM AND WOULD LOVE YOU TO COME STAY A WHILE
HUGSSSSSSSSSSS
I hope you are right about the computers. I can’t afford another right now.
If only I weren’t such a scaredy-cat a road trip would be fun!
that, my friend, is a very good question. So far, few shortages have hit here, but I’m on the East coast and we don’t yet have ships piled up in the harbors. I am so tired of this nonsense, when will it end? This is not America!
Backwards compatibility should always be required with computers!
I am pretty much on the east coast too, but we have a lot of empty shelves. Several stores are hiring part time help for the holidays, but I wonder if they will even be open since all of their merchandise is from China, and the shelves are already 20% empty.
I also wonder how long China will put up with this. It must be affecting their economy as well. If they will influence elections, why not economies?
That’s a very scary thought
Which do you think they want more – us as consumers of their goods and creators of technologies or our land and our resources?
They want us enslaved to them
This is an eye-opening article: https://www.forbes.com/sites/kenrapoza/2020/04/30/why-is-the-us-is-so-ridiculously-dependent-on-china/?sh=4084315e56b5
and will we be able to step up and do what we need to do if it becomes necessary? I fear that the millenials don’t have it in them.
Millennials are scared of mean tweets and nouns, so I don’t see them protecting traditional values.
They have such a surplus of people that I can’t imagining them wanting us even as consumers or slaves. My guess is more along the lines of fertilizer.
I am terrified of what they have planned. I have a friend in Taiwan and I fear for her life.

I feel so helpless and angry over that situation.
You’re on the East Coast only if you get rid of New Jersey and most of Pennsylvania. 😈
Splendid suggestion! When shall we get started?
Toot when you’re ready.
💨 💨!
It is all part of the way we get trapped financially. You need a computer, then you need a new operating system then you need a new computer for the operating system and through all of it nothing gets better
Don’t worry! With the “New and Improved” computers you will have the opportunity to purchase that which previously came pre-loaded. Hooray! 😊
Yup. I had to replace my old, dying Mac with a new one, and as a result I lost both Picasa and Photoshop–or spend a fortune upgrading to compatible operating systems. Don’t even get me started on our economic dependence on China, our worst enemy. 🤐
Oh, I am so sorry! I am afraid that if I have to upgrade, I will lose software as well. Can you use PS Elements? I can’t afford real PS, but years ago I scraped together enough for the smaller package.
If there is a silver lining to this economic mess, perhaps it will be a shift toward doing more things domestically ?
I bought Elements with my retirement bonus in 2013, along with my then-new Mac. And no, Elements has to be upgraded to work on the new Mac. I never really learned to use it anyway, so I let it go. Picasa was a greater loss for me, and it isn’t upgradable unless I want to sell more of my soul to Google. I don’t. 🙄
Ugh, I know what you mean. I have a friend who really misses Picasa too. Even though it is only software, it feels like you’ve lost a friend. *hugs*
That’s OK, Toby, everyone else wants to talk about economics and politics but I’ll sit with you and talk about dog farts.
Finally! Someone who knows what’s important! 🐕 💨
