I wasn’t sure what would happen if I let Murphy into the garden. Sadly, I created a monster. Now that he knows food comes from there, he wants to go all the time. It wouldn’t be such an issue if he didn’t get a barely passing score from the vet at his last visit. Chubby Chorkie here needs to be careful of his calories.

Thanks to Murphy’s sad origin story, he gets pretty much whatever he wants which in this case means a lot of time sniffing overripe tomatoes. (If only his manly dog scent would scare the bunnies away.)

I’ve been feeding Murphy pumpkin in place of some of his food. The weight loss might go even better if we could walk regularly. Perhaps when the weather gets cooler?

Tomatoes shouldn’t add weight. Our vet suggested rice cakes for treats – unflavored- put them in a baggie with some meat and they’ll get the flavor from it. And Murphy is freaking adorable.
It’s more the runny poos I worry about. We had to go out in the middle of the night a few times after his marinara adventure. 😆
Once you’ve had the rice cakes near meat, can you still store them at room temp?
I refrigerated them with the meat in the same baggies
If only Murphy would wait for me to go to the fridge to get his treats. He wants them NOW! 😆
