Not my image.
It seems that whenever I am at church they tell us that if our neighbor has something and we wish we had one too, we are going to hell for being covetous. I follow the blog of a very nice lady who is fixing up a small farm to be a beautiful, productive, wonderful home. I am jealous of all the hard work she gets to do there. This past week, my neighbor adopted a little Maltese puppy. He is so cute!! I wish I had a little Maltese puppy too.
It looks like I’ll be heading to hell. Maybe I’ll see you there?
Should I be worried that there’s another cute boy in town?

NAHHHH ITS ALL A FAIRYTAIL MADE UP JUST TO SCARE KIDS ON DARK NIGHTS I DONT BELIEVE IN ANY OF IT ! HELL WE MAKE FOR OURSELVES ON THIS PLANET AND DITTO HEAVEN !
A friend said that if wishing for a puppy is enough to send someone to hell, imagine all the other dog lovers down there. Maybe it’s not such a bad place after all! 😂
That’s right! Us dog lovers all have moments of wishing for a puppy! Besides, you aren’t wishing to take over the neighbor’s puppy, just wishing to get a cutie puppy like your neighbor’s.
That’s how I see it. Wanting to have a puppy ALSO isn’t the same thing as wanting to take that puppy away from his family. 😆
Oh dear, your church seems to have forgotten that Jesus died for your sins to rescue you OUT of hell. He loves you, just love Him back. No worries.
I’m presuming God knows my heart better than the church biddies. 😊
You got that right! 👍🏻
I would be far more concerned if you coveted a fire breathing dragon.
It’s hard to find any to covet! 🐉
I seriously covet a fire breathing dragon but the Bear refuses to allow me to have one.
I picture you taking it to school board meetings. 😆
Seriously!!!!
Just say it identifies as a cat. 😆
Got to love this!
If your priest is still the same guy, Father Man-Bun, as I recall, then it sounds like Man-Bun needs to get to work on some new material. I surely do appreciate that the threat of hell is an oldie, but a goodie, however I wouldn’t think that relying on it over a length of time would continue to work, especially if he’s wanting the collection plate to be silent as oppose to rattle (rattle = bad: loose change. Silent = good: bills and checks).
I honestly like the overall concept of Catholicism. The problem that I have is that every time I’ve ever attended a mass, funeral, etc. that there is never one scripture reading. Not one! And I’ve attended a lot of catholic masses. Also, the idea that God and Jesus have a middle-man, a gatekeeper, is utter bull. This roots back to a time when most people were illiterate and the priest were educated…, never mind having to be fluent in latin, so everything went through them. I’m pretty sure they also invented purgatory and the concept of paying alms.
On a personal note regarding catholic mass, I absolutely cannot breathe when they start shaking that metal can of incense all around! I get that churches were also crypts and still are (however this tends to be in Europe), so I presume the perfume is to cover up any perceived unpleasant odors, but the time has come to think about the people in the pews who have allergies to absolutely any fragrance. Oddly, I don’t exactly like stinky odors, but they don’t make my eyes, nose and throat irritated and cause a hacking cough. So-called pretty odors always are unbearable.
Tell Man-Bun to chill. And you can always come over to our side… the Presbyterians…, bwah-hahahaha!

Fr. Man-Bun hasn’t been around in a while. 😂They rotate shepherds pretty regularly.
I can’t claim to be a Catholic. I go to services sometimes to make my mom happy, but for some reason the (catholic) seed never took hold in my probably rocky soil. I try to gain something from every experience, though, so even if I don’t enjoy or fully appreciate church, I still try to learn from it.
Ach, someone else with fragrance sensitivities! For me the perfume from the people around me chokes me more than the incense. I’ve had to get up and leave many times because I feel like I’m drowning. I wish scents would go out of fashion. 🙄
To be jealous is human. We all have those times. The thing is not to get stuck there, ’cause that only hurts us. Wishing for something, feeling we’d enjoy it is okay. That’s how I see those things you shared. You think their joy is wonderful and would enjoy such, too…you don’t wish them any harm or bad.
I think Jesus is a lot more forgiving and wanting to help us than people give him credit for. 🙂
But, if those things are hell-bound worthy…especially the puppy one…then I’ll see you there! 😉 😀 Maybe there will be special Dog Lovers Section for us! 😉 😛
Aw, Murphy! You don’t have to worry about that! You are THE cutest cute boy in town! 🙂 ❤️
(((HUGS))) ❤️❤️❤️
To me, wanting something is good. It inspires you to work hard so you can achieve a goal. If I never wanted anything, I wouldn’t move forward.
In my heart I don’t believe the things these people say. I just find it funny to take their words literally. (These are the same people who sing “All Are Welcome”, then don’t want you around if you disagree with them.).
I believe God is far more cool than any of these folks give Him credit for. (And in case I’m wrong, I’ll see you in Dog Lovers’ Hell! 😂)
Exactly!!! I agree!!! ❤️
I’m pretty sure that God has a sense of humor – seriously, he made US and that in itself is pretty darned funny. And I seriously doubt He’s sending you to Hell for wanting a puppy, but if so, I’ll see you there too.
Question: does the priest actually say for his perception of being covetous (btw, he’s wrong) that this is a ticket to hell? I mean, he REALLY says that??
As a slight aside: the new neighborhood Maltese puppy reminds me … did your neighbor who got a puppy, and she/he slipped the collar the same day as being brought home, ever get found? That was a most tragic story to me!
Anony-mouse and The Terrier
No, it isn’t the priest giving these talks. Usually it is helpful laypeople leading classes. (With most people/political groups, whatever they are accusing the other guy of is usually what they themselves are doing. 😆)
Unfortunately , the little doggie was never found. ☹️
