It Started With The Twins…

Last year my niece had twins. I wanted to make something nice for them, so I chose little dresses and cardigans. When I finished with the outfits, there was still some yarn and ribbon leftover. That led to this:

I used the yarn and ribbon and some fabric from my stash to make these. They were donated to the church to help new mothers in need.

You’re lucky I’m a good boy or I would have chewed up those dinosaurs.

My motives were not entirely altruistic, however. I counted the materials I used in my One Thing Each Day challenge.

I know some of you have wondered what happened to us. Murphy is fine. Me not so much. In extremely rare cases, psoriasis can go to the eyes. I can’t win even a scratch off lottery ticket, but somehow I can do this.

Anyway, right now the glare from computer screens is too much for me for more than a few minutes at a time, so I can’t do Bitey Dog (or do online banking or file taxes. Eek!). As soon as I feel better, we’ll be back to telling bitey stories! 😊

What beautiful dresses and cardigans! 😍The shoes and dinosaurs are adorable!

Nox agrees with Murphy, those dinosaurs look like they would be fun to chew! She was impressed with the picture, “you look a lot like me! “

I am so sorry about your eyes. I hope it isn’t permanent and you recover quickly. (Hugs)

Wow…those eye problems are NOT the way 2026 is supposed to start and I hope the problems clear as quickly as possible. Meanwhile I continue to be in awe at your creative and craft skills and look forward to receiving a cardigan in my size next time you have a h.u.g.e. amount of left over materials. Please do not send dinosaurs as I cannot guarantee their safety in my present environment.

I’m so sorry to hear about your continued eye problems. 😦 I know that can change a person’s life in big ways. 😦 Prayers, bestest wishes, and healing thoughts that your eyes are healed soon. ❤️
Your creations for the twins (and the other baby gifts, too) are so gorgeous, sweet, creative and keep-forever-treasures! I know you made each item with love! 🙂

I’m a little behind in commenting! I do recall these adorable little dresses and cardigans. Did you ever get an acknowledgement that the gifts were received? I can see that sending the little dinosaurs to the twins as a nice follow-up gift…, but not if the gift dresses have been summarily ignored. Just speaking for myself, my feelings genuinely would be hurt. Even if current Gen Z etiquette dictates (a mother of a Gen Z told me this — they don’t ever write thank-you cards) no gratitude amongst fellow human beings is allowed…, it seems to me that even just a quick text/email/index card used as a cheapy postcard to let you know the packages was received would still have been nice. And the bare minimum. All that aside, it’s absolutely lovely of you to donate the dinos to your church for mothers in need.

How is your one thing each day challenge going? I may have to try your approach. I do major unloading of stuff, but the little bugaboo clutter still persists.

My niece did send a lovely nice thank you note for the gifts. I guess she is breaking the mold for this younger generation. 😆

One thing a day is still going strong. I still mark the items on the calendar each day to keep myself honest. I’m sure it has helped more than I realize, but since it is such a gradual process, it’s not always easy to see how far you’ve come.

(By the way, do you have enough bread, milk and toilet paper on hand for the storm coming this weekend? 😂)

I’m glad to hear your niece is breaking the Gen Z mold. Your grand-nieces must be adorable!

Oh, I’m so ready for Armageddon or Snow-mageddon. Or whatever they’re calling it. I think it will be much ado about nothing. The cold temperatures will be the worst of it, but snow is just snow. Enjoy the beauty of it before it becomes gray sludge.

As far as clearing out stuff, I’m mucking through the “smalls” as they are called by estate sellers and auctioneers. That sort of stuff just sort of gives more wiggle room in drawers, cupboards, on shelves, etc. It’s not always noticeable, but I assume it counts.

        Happy snow storm 2026!
