Yes, most likely.
Long ago, in the Before Times, I used to store things under the bed. A.D. (After Dogs), I can only put things there that I don’t mind being chewed to bits. Since that is pretty much nothing, I can’t imagine what Toby was doing. Whatever it was, it was probably not good.

And I always have to push food back to the very back of the counter since ours loves to get up on her hind legs and munch away.
Fortunately Toby is short and has to stand on stacked books to reach most things.
If we tell Max we are leaving the house ( and not taking him along) he responds by marching off and going under the bed where he does that silly digging into the floor behavior.
At least it wears his nails down?
Mom doesn’t store anything under her bed, but we do! We keep old toys under the bed, where the dust bunnies can guard them for us.
Those dust bunnies are fierce. You are lucky they are on your side!
