Sitting in the Dark

So, what's going on with...um...this here?

*

Technically nothin. Then why are you sitting in the dark?

*

The short answer is that my eyes hurt, and I'm getting eye strain headaches. How come?

*

Insufficient tears, poor quality tears, worse cataracts n one eye, ocular rosacea and the always popular Bell's Palsy. Lucky you?

*

Don't you wish you hadn't asked? Yeah, kinda.

*

I’m sorry. Were you still talking?

************************

I’ve had to see the eye doctor a number of times in the past months. During my last visit, the doctor asked me a bunch of questions then declared, “This Bell’s Palsy isn’t acting the way it should”. Yay. It feels like someone might finally be hearing me. I guess other underlying conditions can exacerbate the palsy, and that is what she is considering. Paws crossed that in the coming months I get some relief.

Oh dear, you think too highly of my scribble. ☺️.

I’ve found that washing my eye lids several times a day plus warm compresses is helping a lot. If you ever find yourself with this issue, go ahead and use the compresses often. It makes a big difference.

Murphy sends hugs and sniffs to little Cooper! 💕 (And we hope that Cooper is feeling well.)

When I was a child, my parents had my tear ducts “enlarged” to alleviate the “excess” tears running down my face (I was actually an allergy sufferer). As an adult, I suffered from dry eye syndrome, and I can commiserate about the discomfort. However, my current eye doctor told me that the tear ducts can kind of get clogged with thickened material. He prescribed resting with a warm compress on my eyes, and periodically tightly squinching my eyes to express the crud. It worked wonders and was free. Which was great after years of expensive and ineffective treatments. I don’t know that it will help you, but I offer the story just in case it may be of value.

Glad the ocular rosacea is a little better – may it continue to improve! Mayo Clinic says that sometimes physical therapy for the facial muscles can help with Bell’s palsy. Sending healing thoughts and prayers for you!

Quite belated here – The Terrier thanks you and Murphy for the love. She really is a true terrier and will take all the pets and pats as long as my arms hold out and don’t go numb. Even then I soldier through and keep on keeping on.

I’m sorry that you are going through so many eye issues. It finally sounds like you have a doctor who is willing to tackle things. It seems like you’ve seen so many specialist, but with pretty close to no results. The Bell’s Palsy seems like such a strange thing in that it occurs, is self-limiting, then goes away. If it’s not behaving properly (naughty, naughty palsy!!!), then whatever else is additionally/concurrently happening may be figured out by the current physician. The best doctors are those who are willing to tease apart a mystery,… and clearly you are mysterious!

Did you have any luck getting sweet little Murphy insurance? The Terrier has Healthy Paws. It does cover specialist, so that is nice. We’ve been to the ER a couple of times and to OSU for surgery, so you can go out of network (Ha!). It does seem to be worth it. The (sad) joke around here is that The Terrier has better insurance than the humans.

well wishes to you and little forehead scritches for Murphy!

Oh how you sacrifice for your little girl to keep her desire for hugs sated!

Unfortunately Murphy is still without coverage. I have barely had time to sit down lately let alone do research. In the meantime, I’m giving him all the love and healthy lifestyle that I can.

      🙂
