I wasn’t sure I would ever be able to post this story. I drew it several years ago when Geordie was hronking and Toby was reverse sneezing. They made such a cacophony together! I figured it was allergies and gave them some medicine so they could rest.
Not long after, I found out that lung cancer was the real reason behind Geordie’s funny noises. I felt awful that I made fun of my poor puppy when he was seriously sick.
Geordie assuaged my guilt somewhat by living far beyond what the vet predicted. When he finally left, he went on his own terms – old age. He never did succumb to the cancer.

I lost my Max to cancer. I moved Heaven and Earth to keep him healthy and it still got him. It’s the worst feeling in the world. Also, I love bagpipes.
I guess they are playing for our boys in heaven.
BLESS YOU AWEET LADY.
I HAD THE SAME EXPERIENCE.. AND GUILT … WITH MY BELOVED FLICKA. HE STARTERD TO COUGH ODD NOSES,,, AND I USED TO JOKE.. COUGH IT UP IT MIGHT BE A GILD WATCH.
WE TOOK HIM TO OUR OWN WONDERFUL VET AND HE INSTANTLY MADE A BLUE PEARL APPOINTMENT.. INCREDIBLE CENTRAL VETS… . THE POOR BOY RHEY FOUND OUT IN AN EXAMINATION UNDER ANESTHETIC.. HE HAD A CANCR TUMOUR ON HIS TONSILS. .THEY REMOVED IT… GOT CLEAN MARGINS… BUT IT HAD GONE INTO HIS LYMPH GLANDS. HE TOOK HIM HOME.. WE HAD DECIDED WITH TH VETS.. NO CHEMO.. ITS NOT VERY SUCCESSFUL IN MOST DOGS.. ND I WANTED HIM TO HAVE TH BEST TIME POSSIBLE WITH THE TIME LEFT. WE GOT THREE GOOD WEEKS, THEN SOMW BAD DAYS AND WE TOOK HIM TO OUR VET.. KNOWING HE WOULD NOT BE COMING HOME…. OUR VET DAID WISELY… LETS NOT WAIT FOR A BAD DY.. WE AGREED.. AND FLICK PASSED GENTLY AND PEACEFULLY WITH US HOLDING HIM.. AND THE VET WHO HE LOVED ND LOVED HIM… HELPED HIM ACROSS THE BRIDGE.
I KNOW THE GUILT.. BUT WE HAVE TO REMEMBER.. ALL THAT LOVE COULD DO WAS DONE. WE KOVE OUR FUR BBES WITH ALL we are and have, HUGSSSSSSSSS
Oh dear, remembering Flicka’s story brings tears to my eyes. No one could have loved that boy more than you did. *hugs* 🤗 🤗 🤗
Hronk. Books could be written on the topic of strange dog noises. But riddle me this…how come the unusual but harmless noises all come from the front end while the really deadly emissions from the back end are silent?
‘Cause it’s the “S” in SBDs that makes them so much fun. Mwahahaha! – Toby
Aw. 😦 I’m sitting here crying. The loss of our dear-furry-babies is so painful. 😦
Thinking of your precious Geordie…I’m so glad he outlived the vet’s prediction and went on his own terms and time.
(((HUGS))) and Cooper sends Cooper-KISSES ❤
Aw, thank you. Geordie was my first pup. I hope I adequately spoiled him while we were together. 🤗
Hugs back at ya, Coop!
Geordie is a hero to both of us. We have a lot of reverse sneezing here. We hope that is what it is.
Yes, Toby is a reverse sneezer. Thankfully he only does it once in a while.
I can only imagine how swollen Geordie’s head would be if he heard you say he was your hero.😆
