What a week it’s been. One evening a neighbor calls and tells me a bear was spotted at a bird feeder two streets away, the next we are hit by an SLW (tornado that doesn’t spin) that knocks the power out. We didn’t realize it at the time, but large parts of two counties were left without power too.
Thanks to one of the fun fits my body goes through, I hadn’t eaten for about three days before the storm. I was just starting to feel hungry again and was about to put dinner in the oven when the power went out. It was only off for a couple of days, but for Murphy and me, it felt like an eternity.
When the power goes out, you don’t open the fridge/freezer because you don’t know how long the outage will last. Poor Murphy had to do without the pumpkin and green beans he normally gets with is meals. And no “last bites” from mommy’s meals. In Doggy World, this was a terrible week that will go down in infamy.
I’m so sad…and so hungry…

(Despite his claims of hunger, Murphy refused to eat – or even chase – the rabbit or the robin that were right outside the front door.)

What unfortunate timing on the power outage. I do hope you were able to find something to eat. A grill can act as an oven at least.
The problem was having nothing to grill. I only ate what was on the counter, so mainly fruit and rice cakes. (And a tin of sardines. 🙄)
You can use a grill as an oven or a stove top. I’ve made complete meals on the grill to avoid heating up the house in the summer time. If you can’t open your fridge/freezer in hopes of saving your food, maybe you can find some canned food or food in pouches that can be heated for the next time the power goes out. I know you have a limited diet, you might have some trouble finding non-perishables that you can store and eat.
I was reluctant to open cans just because I didn’t think I could eat the whole amount at once. Once opened, I couldn’t refrigerate the leftovers. I guess I need to rethink my preparedness and what foods to keep on hand.
I am sure Murphy would help you with the leftovers!
Oh he is always ready to “help”! 😂
😆Nox is always ready to “help” as well!
At least you had something to eat.
I was starting to eye Murphy’s kibble with envy…
😆
He might he hungry…but if my lot are anything to go by it is the himan’s job to find the food….
What? Eat raw food? Are you crazy? – Murphy
Also human’s job to have a gas cooker matches and a torch….When we first were in France we wondered why the shops sold cookers with two electric rings and two gas hobs….we soon found out.
Hmm, smart idea. 🤔
Well that was no fun, but I did enjoy the blackout cartoon. Any more bear sightings? I hope all is a little better by now at least.
I think they way overestimate repair time so that if you get power back in less than a week you are thrilled. People are still excited to get to have coffee. ☕️
Not sure if there were any more bear visits because, well, we couldn’t see. 😂
Touché!

We didn’t have much of a moon this week, so that wasn’t any help during the blackness.
I presume you have a generator? Stores sold out of them around here. I looked at them before but didn’t think I could afford one. Maybe have to rethink that.
Good luck with your surgeries! I hope things are better afterward. Keep us posted!

Yes, we heard about the awful weather in PA and I definitely thought of you. If it ain’t one thing, it’s three others, my grandma used to say. Glad you’re back up and hopefully eating. ❤️
🤣. Grandma knew what she was talking about!
The only good part about my almost-fast was that I had a doctor appointment, and my weight at check in was better than usual. 😆
Yes, we heard about the awful weather in PA last week, and I definitely thought of you. Glad you’re back up and running, and hopefully eating. ❤️
It’s funny that the rest of the country knows more about what happened than we do. About half of our radio towers were knocked down. When I went to the car to check what was going on, I was barely able to get any stations. (And none of them were news 🙄)
Bears, tornadoes, and blackouts! Oh, my! Oh, gosh! and Oh, no! 😦 😦 Poor you! Poor Murphy! Such a bummer, so frustrating! 😦 (Love your cartoon! 😀 )
So glad all is righted again! Hope both of you have had some good eatin’ since then!
Sweet photos of the robin and the rabbit! 🙂
(((HUGS))) and much ❤️❤️ !!
I was just about to put a meatloaf in the oven when the power went out. I’m going to try again this evening. Keep your paws and fingers crossed that my meatloaf is not a curse! 😆
All my crossable parts crossed for you and your meatloaf! 🙂
Did it work out?
Yes, it was delicious! (And Murphy “helped” me eat it. 😆)
This usually happens in Asia
With the severity of their storms, I can imagine. Looks like we’re going to have to be better prepared in the future!
Of course, I better be prepared for the rain and of course a long power trip
ugh poor you and murphy! We have power outages pretty often. Always when my phone battery is low!
Yes! I had just plugged mine in to charge it when the power went out! 😂
Glad you have electricity again! Pippin says – I’m with you, Murphy – I don’t hunt anything (except kitty cat bakery goodies).
It’s even better when the Litter Box Crunchies deliver themselves…like with Uber Eats or something. 😆 – Murphy
oh, that poor guy, no last bites is the worst fate ever!
Awoo! 😩
I live in a rural area that tends to get blackouts. I keep canned goods on hand, along w/ a hand-operated can opener. Hope that helps!
I think the only canned good I had on hand was beets. Not my first choice for a snack! 😆
Somedays its like the fates are against us
I’ve had more fun days, that’s for sure! 😆
