After seeing the small piggy quilt I recently made, a friend asked me to make a larger one for her. As I was putting it together I realized that making it had used up all of my muslin and batting. My first thought was to start watching for sales to stock up again, but then I wondered if perhaps the time to retire hadn’t come. After all, how often can one make a clean break from something without having leftovers to deal with?

Meet Mr. Pickles. This sad fellow ran away from an unhappy home and ended up inspiring an entire pig rescue project called Oasis Acres Potbelly Pig Foster Home. Sadly Mr. Pickles passed away last week from a bowel obstruction. People in his home town of Hannibal Missouri are still mourning his passing. During his short life, this humble pig has brought much awareness to the plight of domestic pigs and and all that is involved in caring for them and finding them loving homes.
Say “Hello” to Rose, another domestic piggie. Her happy smile inspired me.
Frankly, I do not see the resemblance.
