There Oughta Be a Law

Why do you watch TV? Why don't you read books like other moms?

*

I used to read all the time, but now my eyes are dry, and holding a book is very painful to my hands and arms.

*

Why do you ask?

*

Because every time there is a realistic doorbell sound on TV these two go nuts.

*

OK, I’m not actually in favor of over-regulation, but doesn’t anyone in Hollywood or on Madison Avenue have dogs?!? Every time there is a “ding dong” on screen, we lose five minutes of dialog to barking. From now on can’t we agree to just have actors announce, “Knock knock!”?

*

You really expect me to say ‘knock knock’

every time I come to the door?

Toffee is unaffected by TV sounds. Even dogs barking. I gather Murph is immune as well? H&W weren’t reactive to anything, even real-life rings and knocks. Well, Winkie was deaf… Now I always say, give me a deaf dog every time!

Yes! 😀 Ha! This made me laugh! 😀 And I love what Murphy has to say! 😛

Weirdly or interestingly, Coop only barked to warn us when someone rang our actual doorbell. The doorbells on TV never bothered him…somehow when he was quite young he figured out the difference. Maybe it was the direction of the sound…our TV and our front door are on opposite ends of the living room. Coop never cared much for TV…pretty much ignored it…I’m sure he thought most of what we watched was too dumb for his attention. Ha! 😀

The only thing he REALLY enjoyed on TV was music/singing. He especially paid attention (walked over in front of the TV and stood there and stared at the TV) when a man, or woman, sang with a very high voice…tenors and sopranos were Cooper’s jam! 😉 😀 We always said, “Coops likes the high-singers!” 🙂

    (((HUGS))) ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Wow. Cooper had discriminating tastes. (Did he enjoy “The Sopranos” by any chance?). I can’t argue with his opinion of TV, by the way. 😂

When Geordie was young, he would sit and watch TV. Large engine sounds – like a drama that took place on a submarine – really caught his attention. Later he enjoyed napping in the evenings more. I think that is why he reacted to the doorbell sound…he wasn’t really paying attention.
