Kick the Snow!

Come on, mom, kick the snow!

Here is Toby staring at my boots telling me to start the game.

This has got to be Toby’s favorite game in the whole world. Every time it snows, we play “Kick the Snow’ for hours. Look at those teeth! Look at those claws! This boy is dead set on killing himself some snow.

My neighbor saw us playing and said of Toby, “He’s bat-shit crazy, isn’t he?”. Short answer: yes.

What’s in a Name?

Oh geez, Toby. What is Peppermint going to think? Her name is Zelda...or maybe Priscilla...and we're soulmates!
According to this tag, her name is "Fernando".

These two have spent so much time together that they are starting to look like each other.

Toby and new stuffed girlfriend looking off into the distance.

I do worry about Peppermint, though. I’m sure her feelings are hurt.

Years ago, I worked for a company doing repairs.  One day, a hugely wealthy client called for a repair job at his mansion.  (The residence was referred to as The Compound)  I refused to go unless I had an escort.  The company did not want to pay two employees to make one service call, so the work ended up being done at the business, not the mansion.  Over the years I would occasionally think about that incident and wonder what I may have missed by not going into such an expensive home.

Last week, I watched  a “Who Killed Jeffery Epstein” special to catch up on what had been going on since I hadn’t been keeping up with current events.  I  hadn’t realized that one of Epstein’s good buddies was Les Wexner – the owner of the mansion where my repair job was supposed to be done.  What was even creepier was that according to the program, this would have been right during the time period where Wexner’s residences were used by Epstein to lure and abuse young women.

Part of the job I did for the Wexner estate was making throw pillows for couches.  Now I wonder what atrocities those poor pillows may have witnessed….or participated in. Ick.

Ew, just thinking about that makes me yark.

Sleeping Angels

Toby sleeping next to Mommy's desk.

Last night I found Toby hidden in a little corner next to my desk.  I thought it was funny to see him sleeping with his head on my hard, wooden sewing basket and his butt pressed against a soft, comfortable pillow.  I grabbed my camera and snapped a picture before he could wake up.  I didn’t realize until this evening when I went to edit it that he looked exactly like the picture of sleeping Geordie on the pillow.  Aw, my little angel boys!

Cover of the book Dream Our World

Don’t forget to pick up a copy of Dream Our World.  Inside, not-so-angelic Bitey and Toby visit the museum of their dreams and view the world of art from a canine perspective.

Dream Our World is available from Amazon and from a museum (conveniently located near me but distressingly far from all of you).

Memory Items

Memory Pillows on a chair. My weeks before Christmas were busy with projects.  In this case, I was making Memory Bears and Memory Pillows for a woman whose husband had passed.

Memory items are typically made of the deceased person’s clothes. I can make them into teddy bears (similar to the one below) or pillows.  With the pillows, I try to incorporate pockets, buttons and sometimes collars from the shirts used.  With the bears, I often use the buttons from the shirts as the bears’ eyes.  Some bears get bow ties.  Some get long trailing ribbons.

The lady who ordered these gave them to her grandchildren for Christmas.  She told them that whenever they wanted to hug Grandpa, they could hug their teddy bears.

Camouflage stuffed bear.

Of course, the challenge was making sure that my playful pups didn’t think any of those stuffed animals were for them!

Peek-a-boo!

You sure that’s not for me, Mom?
