It’s been dry here for years, so I haven’t had much opportunity to observe Murphy during rain or thunder. Turns out, Murphy’s not a fan. We only had very gentle, rumbling, far-away thunder, but that was enough to have him glued to my side for the night. He is OK with rain until it falls hard enough to make a sound on the roof.
He’ll be in trouble if our weather ever goes back to normal.
Distract me with treats, and I might feel more confident.

I used to have a CD with recorded rain/thunder storms on it, but I sent it to my brother when he was in Iraq. 😂. Maybe I’ll see if I can find something online to play for him. Thanks for the suggestion! ❤️
We know here when a storm is on its way…..Auntie – one of the older ladies – gets upset and starts moving around. On the other hand earthquakes don’t bother her at all…
Geordie didn’t like earthquakes, but he was fine with storms. Funny what bothers some pups and what doesn’t!
Poor Murphster. I guess there are advantages to being a deaf dog.

Coop was afraid of thunder, too. He always had to sit on my lap during thunder.

Murphy goes to the highest place he can reach when he’s scared. I think he’d be my hat rather than my lap warmer. 😂
(If only pups realized how much we like comforting them when they’re scared. It makes us feel helpful and needed. )

I find that recalling funny stories helps get through times like these. That plus my firm belief that our boys are still with us even if we can’t see them right now. Give your guy a mental hug, and maybe he’ll come for a visit sometime soon! 😊

Yes, that does help. Oh, I know he’s still here in spirit…I can even still hear him near me…especially at night when he and I were often up alone, together. 🙂
