What’s Wrong With Murphy?

Aaagh!!!

*

Aaagh!! What's wrong with him? Murphy's afraid of thunder.

*

It’s been dry here for years, so I haven’t had much opportunity to observe Murphy during rain or thunder. Turns out, Murphy’s not a fan. We only had very gentle, rumbling, far-away thunder, but that was enough to have him glued to my side for the night. He is OK with rain until it falls hard enough to make a sound on the roof.

He’ll be in trouble if our weather ever goes back to normal.

Distract me with treats, and I might feel more confident.

Inside the museum, Geordie and Toby view the world of art from a canine perspective while enjoying a day of unsupervised fun. There are a lot of hidden gems inside Dream Our World, and it is a joy for all ages. Treat yourself to a read that is both fun and educational!

Dream Our World, and other fine gifts, are available from my shop at L Bowman Studios.

Sinister Owl

Uh huh! Uh uh! Eeee!! Noooooo! Help! Aaagh! Nope nope nope! Arf! Aiiii! Arf! Yipe! Yipe!

Geordie was always hyper aware of birds of prey. He could spot a hawk in a tree from a quarter mile away. Toby never seemed to pay much attention to them until my folks brought this owl decoy for the garden. When he saw it he let out such a blood curdling scream that you would have thought he was being murdered. If the little guy weren’t so afraid, it would have been funny.

I am curious if the owl will discourage Toby from trying to steal beans from the garden. So far the bunnies and the beetles don’t care. (Stupid bunnies.)

What IS That?!? Yipe! Yipe! Yipe!

After our “pet me until I go to sleep” experience on our first night, I woke up on the second day cautiously optimistic that perhaps the puppy did like me after all.  Maybe our relationship was going to be OK!

That afternoon, the puppy was engrossed with a toy, so I decided to sneak into the next room and grab the newspaper.  The puppy apparently didn’t notice me leave the room, but he heard me rustle the paper and came to investigate.  What did he find?  A strange person!!  This scared him so badly that he scrunched his eyes shut and ran screaming (Yipe!  Yipe!  Yipe!) as fast as his little legs would take him.  He barreled right into the refrigerator but was too afraid to open his eyes to navigate and kept banging into it again and again.

I sure made an impression on my boy, didn’t I?  As soon as I’d left the room, he no longer recognized me! : (
