I don’t know what you’re complaining about. My pee smells nice.

Bitey Mom may be making a joke about pee pills, but inside she is concerned. I know that little Murphy is only on loan from heaven, but I still don’t like seeing his health decline.

I don’t see what you’re talking about. I feel fine.

Hey, don’t forget me! I broke too.
And I’m only right twice a day now!
*
These are a few of my busted up things! (Hmm, I can see why they went with the other version in the musical.)
These are only a few of the things that broke. If you added everything up, October was quite an expensive month. Uh oh Murphy, looks like a skinny Christmas this year!
As long as I get some biscuits, I’ll be happy.

Looking for ways to stay warm as the days cool down? Consider this rustic Bear Paw Quilt!
This handsome Bear Paw Quilt would fit in nicely at a cabin by the lake or thrown over your couch at home. The pattern is geometric, and the colors are bold yet earthy. The overall effect of the quilt is of paw prints in snow. On snowy days, the colors look so inviting it is hard not to lie down on them and take a nap.
That brother of mine may have been your costume whore,
but I like being a naked little boy!

As if life weren’t busy enough, I had to get a new “toaster” this week. I brought it home to show Murphy, and he wouldn’t come within 10 yards of it. I guess I don’t have to worry about him borrowing it in the middle of the night…you know, to make toast.

Forcing fluids has some interesting side effects like being affected by the gravitational pull of the moon….and being able to keep up with the boys at night.

How about we start by peeing on this?

On the plus side, it is becoming easier to locate things when I want them. I am less likely to buy a duplicate because I can’t find the original.
I am an original, so you can always find me!

The watermelons in the garden are finally ripe enough to pick. While most of the other foods this year were pretty awful, the watermelons are amazing. I found one about the size of a softball to give to Murphy. He immediately declared it to be the best food ever and ate the whole thing, rind and all.
I tried to keep an eye on him, but Nature took its course when my back was turned.

You’ll have to pay closer attention to my subtle clues.
Murphy has learned a trick from the whole incident. Now if he thinks I am taking too long to get him outside, he starts sniffing the leg of the chair that he peed on. Suddenly mom can move very quickly!

My poor puppies. They have been so bored lately…only getting into trouble inside my head instead of on paper.
It’s my fault the puppies are so bored. I ended up getting Lyme disease again, and it totally wrecked my summer. I was surprised to find out I had it because my symptoms didn’t match the warning signs you are supposed to watch out for. Plus, the blasted tick was only on me for a few minutes. My understanding was that you couldn’t catch the disease in that short of a period of time. Well, it looks like you can if you’re immunocompromised.
When the doctor told me she thought I had Lyme, I said I was surprised. I told her this didn’t feel anything like it did the last time. She asked what it felt like last time. When I told her, her eyes got big, and she looked noticeably taken aback. “Wow,” she said, “you had a really bad case last time.” (Ha! I knew it. I knew I was sick even if no one wanted to take me seriously!)
I’ve been taking medication for the past several weeks, but I still have a bit to go. These antibiotics are so hard on me I feel like I might not make it to the end of the treatment. If you don’t hear from us for a while, it’s because the boys are keeping me company while I whine to them about how lousy I feel.
Better you than me!
You’re right, little puppy. Much better me than you.

A good way to spend hot summer days is indoors reading Dream Our World! (Plus, proceeds help Murphy’s Biscuit Fund.)

I apologize if any of you were eating when you opened this. (Eww! Gross old lady legs!)
I use Bitey Dog as sort of a personal journal. This post is for myself so later I can look back and remember what this stupid tick bite was like.
What does it feel like? It is like having a deep tissue bruise on top of a giant mosquito bite. When I’m reclining it feels better. Standing makes it ache. It nearly always itches. Heat makes everything much worse. (Hard to avoid heat in the summer! 😆)
Why don’t I take antihistamines? There are very few antihistamines I can take. When I’ve tried them in the past, they made me sleepy and gave me dry mouth, but they didn’t really affect the allergic reaction.
What about steroids? Topical ones make things worse (increased itching). I don’t know about oral steroids. There are none that I can take because they all contain corn.
Would you get that thing out of my face already?!? I told you how we dogs feel about ticks.
Years ago I was bitten by several spiders. If I remember correctly, it took around eight weeks for the symptoms to fade. It looks like I have close to three weeks more of this to go. ☹️.
I wish I could use my experience to pressure pharma companies to diversify the bases for products. I know I’m not the only person in a situation where we would likely benefit from medication but can’t take it.
