I have been doing nearly two hours of upper body work every other day for six months, and my arms are just as scrawny as they were when I started. How do I know? I need to measure them when ordering braces or compression sleeves. What will I need to do to bulk up? I can’t do those raw egg shakes like Rocky did.

Spring is right around the corner! Soon flowers and butterflies will be everywhere. Bring some of that springtime joy into your home with this handmade Butterfly Quilt.

I thought of this challenge as I was hanging my new calendar. What if, to keep myself honest, I wrote what it was that I got rid of each day on the calendar? So far, this has turned out to be a great motivator. Trying to sort out an entire desk drawer might seem intimidating, but getting rid of that cable from a camera you don’t even have anymore is easy. After a while, these little steps add up.
I wish I could say that the place looks neater already. Instead I can say that the stack of items I have to give to charity is growing steadily. I keep hoping that somehow my donations will make it to areas of the country that have been devastated. Their loss is so great. I want to help, but I have so little. Perhaps this will be a way for me to make a difference.

I’m grateful that Murphy doesn’t seem to care much about fireworks. This year they weren’t much of a problem anyway. The day was incredibly soggy, and by midnight it was too wet to set more than a few off. Yay.
(By the way, our post is not late. This is Greek Orthodox New Year. Ha!)

Due to a change in life, I find myself unable to make Royal pillows any longer. I still have several large ones and several smaller ones in stock, and I would like to find good homes for them. While I am unable to deliver in time for Christmas, these pillows might make a lovely gift for the princess in your life who may be having a birthday coming up.

My Cairn boys were built for winter. In fact they didn’t like any temperature above 55′. Murphy, despite his long, luxurious fur, is a summer guy. The poor little thing nearly froze to death when our temps dropped this week.
Unfortunately, the coat that fits him best is a pink hand-me-down. I keep trying to tell him it is light red, but he insists that even he is not that colorblind. Hmm, maybe Santa will have a new coat on the sleigh for Murphy…
I may be partially colorblind, but I can still smell girl dog on this coat.

I don’t really care what you wear as long as I don’t have to go along.
(So far Murphy hasn’t shown the enthusiasm for water that his brothers had.)

While this might seem like an odd topic, I was very nervous about going swimming again after having developed so many allergies/sensitivities. I was concerned that even with shower sandals, if I were walking across a floor where personal care items were draining, they might splash onto my skin and cause a reaction.
My solution is to wear aqua socks while in the shower room and in the pool, only changing out of them once I reach my locker. If you happen to be one of lucky few with MCAS, I wanted to let you know that this might be a choice to help keep safe in a locker room or pool. (Usually this condition doesn’t surface until your 20s, so hopefully high school swim class will already be behind you.) Aqua socks are made of neoprene, so water doesn’t go through them. As a plus, they give extra traction on slippery floors.
And even though I am the only nerd wearing them, I totally rock these aqua socks.
