Sadly, I have been having trouble buttoning my clothes lately.  If I were to want new clothes, though, they are considered “unessential”, so I can’t go to the store to try on and buy new.  That leaves me with few options…

Today I Am A Man!

Now I am a man too! In your face! This might mean more if you weren't carrying your stuffies around all the time.

Without much to do during this lock down, I am expecting a baby boom late this year and early next.  If it happens that you will be welcoming a new life to your family or circle of friends, consider giving him or her a beautiful handmade quilt.

Handmade American Sign Language/ASL Quilt

This ASL/American Sign Language Quilt is crib sized (41.5″ x 47.25″) and is an original design of mine.  The quilt is made using hand applique, hand embroidery and hand quilting techniques, so it is quite time consuming to make.  The shell is entirely cotton with a cotton/bamboo batting.

Chili Out?

Si.

Hola!

Toby told me he head to pee, so I clipped his collar and leash on and headed toward the door.  Before we stepped out, he cried “Wait!” and dashed back into the room to grab his new stuffed chili pepper.

Whenever Toby has a toy that he likes, he fusses over it like a good papi.  He likes to take his toys out to give them a chance to relieve themselves.

Aw, Mom, don’t show that one!  I was standing like a girl.

Once Toby and the toy were done, he picked up his little one to bring back inside.

As always, Toby was extremely cooperative when having his picture taken.  He stood perfectly still so that I could capture his portrait in perfect detail.

We Need Heroes (But Not You)

When this virus first arrived, the news was filled with horror stories of shortages.  It saddened me to read of so much need and know there was nothing I could do.  But wait.  The Red Cross needed blood.  Surely I could at least donate blood!

Off I trekked to the Red Cross website to find the nearest donation location only to find that I do not qualify.   Despite being lumpy and chubby, I do not meet their weight criteria.  (I am not underweight, I am just very short.)  Even in this time of crisis, my gift is unwanted.

Bad girl.  No cookie.

Who, me? I wouldn't pee on the sunflowers.

Did someone mention cookies?

Those Dreaded “T” Words

After a walk through a field with Toby, I checked my puppy to make sure he had no fur hitchhikers.  That afternoon, just to be safe, I checked him again.  In case there might be any late biters, that evening I checked him again.

I have to say that by the end of the day, he was really ticked with me.

Don't worry, Mom. I'll help.

For heaven’s sake, quit using me as a prop in your lame stories.

Toby, like most pets, is loving this lock down….his grandparents, not so much.  So far, they have had their water filter break, the microwave break and a drain back up.

On top of these things, they are seriously not liking the new mask rules.  My Mom is severely claustrophobic and won’t go anywhere they are required.  Both of my parents are hard of hearing (age related).  Not only are they having trouble hearing people, they can’t lip read with everyone’s faces covered.

What a strange world we find ourselves in.

Today my heart goes out to all those unlucky pups and peeps who will have a Pandemic Birthday this year.  With a Pandemic Birthday, there are no surprise parties, no regular parties, no cake at the office nor nice dinner at a fancy restaurant with close friends.  By the time all of this is over, if you say, “Hey, it was my birthday six weeks ago!”, everyone will think you are lame.

If you know someone having a birthday during confinement, consider celebrating their special day by having a pet portrait made for them!   Portraits can be done in a variety of mediums (even crayon, if you want) to fit a variety of budgets.
