Mommy’s Tick

Help, I have a tick! It's the worst pain in the entire world! She's doomed!
Don't worry. I'll save you!
That's not what happened. Who is the world going to believe? You or me?

Well, it was my turn to get a tick this week. I foolishly laid down in the grass to stretch my back, and one of those blood-thirsty little suckers got me. Toby said he was glad I finally knew what it felt like to be snacked on by a bug and that I should have much more sympathy for him and that I should give him more Milk Bones to make up for all the suffering he has gone through and the Milk Bone compensation is retroactive to Geordie’s lifetime and it extends to other animals that have ticks too. In other words, many more Milk Bones.

Many, many more Milk Bone

We Need Heroes (But Not You)

Mommy is drawn inside of the Ghost Buster symbol

When this virus first arrived, the news was filled with horror stories of shortages.  It saddened me to read of so much need and know there was nothing I could do.  But wait.  The Red Cross needed blood.  Surely I could at least donate blood!

Off I trekked to the Red Cross website to find the nearest donation location only to find that I do not qualify.   Despite being lumpy and chubby, I do not meet their weight criteria.  (I am not underweight, I am just very short.)  Even in this time of crisis, my gift is unwanted.

Bad girl.  No cookie.

Who, me? I wouldn't pee on the sunflowers.

Did someone mention cookies?

To make sure  my puppy remains happily plump enough to escape the Puppy Traffickers as well as donate blood…order a copy of Dream Our World!

Cover of the book Dream Our World

In Dream Our World, Bitey and Toby visit the Museum of the Imagination where they insert themselves into the artwork.  Plus, they get to enjoy a day of unsupervised fun because all the humans are banned from public spaces.

Dream Our World would make a great gift for someone stuck at home!

Dream Our World is available from Amazon.

Peppermint Ew

Humpity! Humpity! Humpity!

Hey Mommy, wanna play "Peppermint" with me?

I actually thought that I would be drawing pictures of Toby’s interest in girls by now, but this little boy still has a fondness for his toy peppermint.  People keep asking me if I have had him fixed.  Yes.  For some reason, though, he cannot seem to say no to this particular toy.  Perhaps he has a sweet tooth?

I’ve promised not to spoil his reputation with the ladies by telling about his hobby.  I just wonder….will his first girlfriend be a chocolate lab?

Butterflies

I have a friend who says that puppies' souls come back to visit their mommies as butterflies.

Butterflies 2

Perhaps that is why my boys enjoy chasing butterflies so much…they sense a kindred spirit.

Coming Soon!  Bitey and his little brother Toby will have their own book.  I got a proof back from the printer yesterday, but there had been a problem with compression when the manuscript was sent.  I fixed that and resubmitted, so hopefully it will be good enough to approve next time!

Teeny Tiny Toby’s Terrible Tuesday Temper Tantrum

Roar!

…which really took place on a Monday…but I am posting about it on a Friday!

I got fortunate in that Toby decided to throw one of these fits in front of the vet.  She was taken aback at the viciousness of his outburst.  She said that this is simply what he does when he doesn’t get his way, and no one should give in to him or he will learn that this is how he gets what he wants.  The down side?  This

Ouch.

I was feeling happy that my little monster had largely outgrown this phase, until today.  Then ol’ crabby pants showed up again to say that he did not appreciate the hug I gave him after supper.  Looks like I had better keep the Band Aids handy.

First Week Memories

These memories are for when I look back and try to recall what Toby did at which stages of development.

During his first week….

100_1880 (800x600)

I had to add water to Toby’s kibble because he was too little to eat the chunks when they were dry.

Furcut 1

Toby didn’t know how to shake.  First he would shake the back end, then the front end.  He didn’t know how to shake them together to properly fluff his fur.

Grrrrr!

At first, Toby was too tiny to make the first step out of the front door, so I would carry him.  One time, I was carrying him inside my coat for the five steps from the front door to the snow when he just conked out.   I couldn’t bring myself to wake him, so I just stood there with the puppy tucked in my coat. Toby was too tiny to see, and as people drove past, they gave me the strangest looks.  (“Look at the odd woman standing in the yard looking at her coat!”)

Geordie wasn’t a happy camper because he had to wait inside.
