Gratitude

Today I had to go to the dentist for a broken tooth. I am grateful that it was only a stress fracture and easy to correct. I am also grateful that my dentist is still in business and able to help patients. As a bonus, I got to tell some people about my paintings and hand out a few cards. That was nice.

I know my gratitude is self-centered, but at least I am trying.

Her day may have been nice, but mine sucked. During the part of the evening where I like to bark insanely at top volume, I found myself with a training collar strapped to my neck!! When I barked, Mom yelled, “Quiet” and made the collar beep. This happened twice. I was so upset that I threw myself into my kennel and stayed there. Harrumph. If I can’t bark, I don’t even want to look out the door.

A Wedding

Are we really going to a wedding? Yes, we've been invited.

What if when they ask if anyone objects, someone does? I don't know. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Governor Groundhog stuck his head out of his den and declared that our quarantine will continue for another three months. That means Bitey and Toby will have free rein at the museum for the whole summer!

She’s Beauty and She’s Grace

Remembering last year’s Fall… Woman with injured legs struggles to walk.

Kind of reminds me of when the coyote got the boomerang glued to his butt. As graceful as a sea cow on land!

In the year since the fall I have regained the ability to walk, but there is no grace to my gait. I move like a broken wind-up toy.

Last Spring – The Fall

I didn't know humans could fly. Is it legal to say those words in this state?

Ew, this is so disgusting! I am soaked clear through to my underwear.

Ow! I''m not going to be able to walk for weeks! You know what this means, don't you? No supervision!

I'll go get us something from the fridge. I'll go get the toilet brush!

It has been a year now since The Fall. At the time I expected to be better in a few weeks, but it was months before I could even take the dogs for a hobble. My left knee never did recover, and still can’t fully bend it.

Toby takes advantage of my not being able to properly kick his butt. This morning – at that magical Dogging Hour of 3:00 a.m. – he decided to destroy a few things around the house.

Insanity Squirrel #1

I was going to do another Insanity Avoidance Kitty, but something in my head whispered, “Do a squirrel”, so I drew an Insanity Avoidance Squirrel. How is it working? Meh.

Ugh, why do we have to suffer whenever she overindulges?

Come on Toby. Let’s be fair. The real reason you are being taken on three walks a day is because you chewed up my book, ate a note pad, tipped over the trash can, climbed up on the bed and stole a hankie, ran through the house with my underwear…do I need to go on?

After my scale-crunching last post, I have been cutting back on portions and walking more (all the things panicked chubby humans do). Today I checked, and I found that I had lost -4 pounds.

I guess with everything else in the world being upside down, I shouldn’t be surprised that the laws of physics are too.

Today I Am A Man!

Handmade American Sign Language/ASL Quilt

This ASL/American Sign Language Quilt is crib sized (41.5″ x 47.25″) and is an original design of mine. The quilt is made using hand applique, hand embroidery and hand quilting techniques, so it is quite time consuming to make. The shell is entirely cotton with a cotton/bamboo batting.

Chili Out?

Hola!

Toby told me he head to pee, so I clipped his collar and leash on and headed toward the door. Before we stepped out, he cried “Wait!” and dashed back into the room to grab his new stuffed chili pepper.

Cairn terrier allows his stuffed chili pepper toy to go pee.

Whenever Toby has a toy that he likes, he fusses over it like a good papi. He likes to take his toys out to give them a chance to relieve themselves.

Once Toby and the toy were done, he picked up his little one to bring back inside.

As always, Toby was extremely cooperative when having his picture taken. He stood perfectly still so that I could capture his portrait in perfect detail.
