The Ornament

Christmas tree with picture of Geordie overlooking the scene.

Geordie Christmas Tree Ornament

Now Geordie is not just above the tree but on it.  In the background, I can hear Toby grumbling something about how he “never got a dinner…”

Black and white sketch of Cairn terrier puppy.

Harrumph.

Don’t worry, Toby.  Your picture hangs in the hall.

As Requested: The Swimsuit Competition!

For friends of Toby and Max: More Back Story

Hey, what happened to your green sweater? I wanted something for summer so I chose a bathing suit. You look ridiculous. It's so old-fashioned!

He dares ca.. ME old-fashioned? And this coming from a guy with a fainting couch! Anyway, I rock this suit.

If your dogs aren’t team players, Photoshop in layers!

Won’t put the suit on?  Use a crayon!

(Then you can make him wear anything you want to.)

Not Cool, Mom!

Sketch of Cairn terrier dog.

Seriously, you chose this picture?!?

When Geordie saw the picture of Toby I posted on the blog, he insisted that I put a picture of him up next.  For some reason he is unhappy about this one.

This is a draft of one of the pictures in his (and Toby’s.  Don’t tell him Toby is in the book too) next book.  Although I have been working on it for a year, it feels like I am never going to get done.

This book is filled with so many memories for me.  It has also been a great opportunity for me to learn more about working with digital media.  At the rate I am going, though, I will die of oldness long before I ever get done.

The Dogs from Brazil

Twin Cairn terrier puppy sketches.

Talk this week was about Barbara Streisand cloning her beloved dog who had been with her for many years.  I can definitely sympathize with her missing someone who had been such a large part of her life.  Cloning, though, won’t bring back the little one that you miss.  The new puppy will have entirely different life experiences that will shape her personality.  Plus, Nature does such a great job of making puppies with incredible personalities…for free!

Like every dog mom, I love my Geordie sooo much that I wish he could be with me always.  If I had made a duplicate Geordie, though, I never would have met the funny little goofball, Toby.  Even if I had money for cloning, I think I like meeting an entirely new someone when I adopt.

After all, it is possible to strike gold twice!

The Nor’easter

Whee! Puppy is blown like a kite by a nor'easter

I took my chances late one day

And went into the world.

The wind was blowing forcefully

And all the flags unfurled.

I aimed my pee stream carefully

But was the one that fell.

Was it the Nor’easter too strong

Or only I too small?

What a storm this week!  Although we’ve had colder temps during the Winter, this particular storm brought a bitterness that made it truly miserable.

I am sorry to say that poor Bitey did get tipped by the wind while we were outside.  Terriers are built pretty much  like cinder blocks – short, stocky and heavy – so I was surprised that they could be blown about.

Perhaps that is why they get so nervous when I watch The Wizard of Oz.
