Fresh Hell

Oh what fresh hell is this? I've read that people can get psoriasis on their nether regions, but I hoped it would never happen to me! I know something that might help with the itching.
This doesn't help at all! Yeah, tell me about it.
Hey, get out of there!
That's not psoriasis. Those are ant bites on your butt. Hmm, now that you mention it, I might have sat on an ant hill when I was working in the garden.
Sheesh. Humans. They'll complain about anything. Yeah, I agree. By the way, do your paws itch?

When I was diagnosed with psoriasis, I never thought of all the places it could show up. Finding out psoriasis can hide where no one can see seemed like a particularly awful fate. Thank heavens this was only a run in with some angry ants.

If you wanted someone to bite your butt, you should have let me know.

I already bite your underwear.

Are you looking for a unique and personal gift for someone? Then consider a hand painted handkerchief! With summer allergies and sniffly viruses abounding, a reusable cotton hankie could save hundreds of paper tissues over its lifetime.

A variety of hand painted hankies are available from my shop at L Bowman Studios.

Dig in the Garden

Mom! Mom! Can we go dig in the garden? I'm sorry guys, but I've already started planting. You won't be able to dig out there for a while.
Oh whoa is us! We are the saddest puppies in the whole world! That's not how you spell "woe". Be quiet. We're upset. We never get to have any fun. At all. Ever!
Hey wait, what are you two doing with my shoes? Don't worry about it.

She’s a fool if she thinks she is going to keep me from my dirt!

This is the latest I’ve ever been putting in the garden, but Toby doesn’t appreciate the extra digging time he had. All he sees is that fence between where he is and where he wants to be. Poor evil beastie. He is in for several weeks of disappointment…well, till the beans come in.

Terrier looking up at basket of green beans.

What can I say? I am a sucker for green beans.

Blue Loo

Hey, it looks like youi got a little something on your face. Yeah, you too, but I know what'll fix it!
Blublublublub....
She'll never know what we did. We're too clever for her!
Should I be worried?
Blue Loo

I can’t wait to get inside and wash off.

Toby got what will hopefully be his last bath from me today. Why the last? This dog is like the Tasmanian devil when it comes to grooming. After yet another bite, I decided it was time to look for a groomer. I had been avoiding groomers because of my allergies. I have problems with fragrances and with parabens. I have no idea if I will be lucky enough to find someone who uses products that I can tolerate. If not, this might end up being Toby’s last bath ever. Gross.

(In real life the toilet lid is kept down when not in use, so Toby can’t wash his face whenever he wants to.)

If your dirt demon is really a little boy, consider getting him something stylish for Summer. Some states are opening, so there are likely to be weddings and possibly graduations coming up in the next few months. Dress your young man in clothes sure to make a statement.

These and more items are available from my shop.

Remembering the Muumuu

I’m feeling nostalgic, so I am going to remember last year…

Whoa, what's with the get up? My knees are so swollen that my pants won't fit.

Plus i am so slow getting to the bathrom that I don't have time to unfasted my pants. And somewhere the Kanaka Maoli are missing a princess...

Photo of swollen and bruised legs.

There was surprisingly little discoloration

for the  amount of swelling.

Pair of boots sitting on grass.

And yellow is the reason why.

I mean, these are the culprit homicidal boots.

(They look so innocent, don’t they?)

As an act of kindness and self-sacrifice – because you know that’s how my boy is – Toby decided to help me with tilling this year.  He says he wants to save me wear and tear on my boots.  (You can’t tell from the photos, but some of those holes are big enough to hide a 20+ pound terrier.)

Pea plant sprouting

Toby was disappointed when he found out we are growing “peas”.

Cairn terrier peeing.

That’s not the “P” word I was hoping for.

If you know a bookstore or shop where Dream Our World might fit, please let me know!  I would love to introduce Bitey and The Usurper to even more humans.

In Dream Our World, Bitey and Toby visit the Museum of the Imagination and view the world of art from a canine perspective.  And how is that?  – With themselves front and center, of course!

Dream Our World is available from Amazon.

Toby’s Prize

Sweet potato that Toby dug up in the garden

Toby had a special something

TOday that he found.

It was an orange tuber that was

Hiding in the ground.

He dug it up with his own paws

From its dark hiding place.

He showed it off to me and Mom

A huge grin on his face!

I wish I had the camera ready when Toby found this giant sweet potato (It was 9″-10″ long.)  .  I don’t think I have ever seen such a big smile on his puppy face.  This just reinforced to him that digging in the garden is great fun.

I am tempted to hide a few potatoes in the dirt and set him loose to find them.  If all goes well, the tilling should get done with very little effort on my part.

If you are wondering about Toby’s commentary on the Pollack picture, like most kids, he doesn’t appreciate abstract art.  He is saying, “Heck, I could do that!”

Watch Your Step

Watch your step. Huge hole in the garden!

I keep hoping a deer will fall in the hole and never want to come back to the garden!

It’s tough to get a decent picture of a hole: they are not particularly photogenic.  I hope this picture does justice to the huge hole that Toby dug this afternoon.

More than Geordie, Toby really enjoys being a dog.  He loves digging holes and playing in mud.  He likes chasing birds and catching tennis balls.  Geordie has always been fussy about his demeanor and appearance.  I’ve often said that if life were the TV show Frasier, Geordie would be Frasier and Toby would be Eddie.

Until recently, Toby has been able to get away with being the goofy puppy.  Geordie was more practiced at everything and always led.  Toby could afford to slack off and be the little clown.  Once he realized that the humans knew that Geordie had a problem, though, he immediately stepped up to be such a wonderful, helpful boy.  He pays attention to my moods now.  He is much more patient with things like being groomed.  I hug him often and tell him how much I appreciate all his help, but I don’t want him to stop being my goofy little puppy yet.  As life gets back to normal, I want him to keep misbehaving.

I think today was a good start.
