The Easter Egg

I can’t remember the last time I had an Easter egg to find.  You can imagine my surprise when I was heading out to look at the garden and found this little guy sitting on the backs step!

He was just so perfect and Easter-y looking in his aqua shell.

Bitey Dog’s book, A Tired Mommy Is a Good Mommy is available in paperback at Amazon.  (Also comes in Kindle format.)  It would make a great gift for Mothers’ Day!

A Tired Mommy Is a Good Mommy!

Cover 8 (800x778)

Well, here is it!  Available at Amazon, if you would like to check it out.

Putting this book together was a tremendous amount of fun, and I am greatly looking forward to doing another.   I know a lot of bloggers out there would love to be discovered by a real publisher, but if there is any project that is dear to your heart – that you would love to be able to hold in your hands right now – then I encourage you to give this a try!   It is very satisfying to have creative control of everything from the dimensions of the book to the font(s) to the cover art.

Go ahead and publish!  What have you got to lose?

And Now We Wait….

Today we submitted our formatted book interior and our cover art.  They made it through the first review, and now we have to wait to be presented with a proof.  After that, we either approve the book or redo the work until it is right.  I am hoping that things are correct because after looking at this content over and over and for so long, I don’t really see it anymore.  I can say that the pups are much happier now that I am not at the computer so many hours each day.  This afternoon we got to play with one of their friends as well as chase tennis balls and flashlight beams.

And now we wait….

Peeing on each other.

Still Alive

It has been way too long since poor Bitey got to tell a story.  Don’t worry, more are on the way.  We have been working together on creating a book based on The Adventures of Bitey Dog.  Since we started the project, we have had a number of obstacles, but it appears we are getting close to publishing.  Once the book is ready, we will post a link to it here so that you can check it out if you would like.

(This is only hopeful thinking….our grass is still dead from winter.)

Wishing you all a great week of avoiding doing your taxes!

BSOD

We all just got

A BSOD.

Although I have been following instructions to troubleshoot and possibly fix  the BSOD, I am scared to turn on the computer.  What if I didn’t fix the problem, and my hard drive escapes this mortal coil without me?  If I don’t turn the computer on, it will remain in a state where it both does and doesn’t work.    Somehow I like that option.  It is cheaper.

Puppy With a Death Wish: Part 1, The Case of the Psychedelic Pup

Psychedelic Pup

Blecch...This is not the "trip" they promised in the brochure!

Toby has proven to be a real Puppy With a Death Wish.  The lightning-fast little guy managed to grab a mushroom while we were out in the yard, and all I saw was the end of the stem as he gobbled it up.

Fortunately his body started purging the mushroom right away.  His poor little body emptied itself all over the place.  The vet wasn’t particularly helpful in this instance.  Her only advice was to take him to the emergency vet hospital.  Yes, going there would be good, but it is a 45 minute drive away.  I learned from a neighbor and from the internet that inducing vomiting with peroxide would be something to do within the first minutes before heading to the hospital.

I was lucky, and my little puppy survived the ordeal.  Did he learn his lesson about mushrooms, though?  Not that I can tell.  He still pulls to get near every one he sees.

Cluster of mushrooms.

Holy Family of mushrooms.

This cluster of three was found on the nearby church’s property, so I call the grouping The Holy Family of Mushrooms.  The “Joseph” mushroom has a cap that is 9-10″ across.  It is HUGE!

Here is “Joseph” seen from the top.

Big mushroom.

This mushroom had such a lovely color in real life.  Between the shade of brown and its size, it reminded me of a loaf of bread on a stalk.  Check out the leaves on the plant beside it to try to get an idea of just how massive it is.

Westies are Besties!

Well, so say the Westies, anyhow!

Oil Painting of Westie lad.

Here a handsome Westie lad sits on the groomer’s table, waiting for some to notice his pretty red bow tie.  It won’t take long.  Who could resist looking at that furry face?

This little guy will be shipping to his forever home later this week, and I am going to miss him.  While I work on these pictures, I feel like I get to know the mischievous natures of the pets I am painting.  My consolation is that I can soon start another picture and get to meet another happy little fuzzball!

Good boy!
